Rules for Rappin'

At SPS, our Rules for Rappin' Program is designed to enable kids to know how to make and maintain friendships, develop strategies to keep communication flowing effectively, and know what to do when the interaction 'breaks down.'

Our Speech-Language Pathologists teach specific social skills and gradually become less involved in the activities so that the participants don't rely on the adults to make communication with a peer work. The kids gradually become more comfortable using the skills they have learned, with the security of knowing that the adult is there to guide and help if needed.

Our Rules for Rappin' kids choose many of the activities each session and learn the art of negotiation when a consensus as to what to play or do is not easily achieved. As effective communication with a peer encompasses a wide variety of skills, we also help children identify and use non-verbal communication to facilitate improved social interaction.

Our Rules for Rappin' Program enables kids to master the art of conversation and develop age-appropriate social skills.

Have your child join our Rules for Rappin' Program to 'get in the game,' have fun, and become a more effective communicator!
